Elvis Presley
Elvis Aaron Presley (5 January 1935–16 August 1977) was an American singer, actor and musician. A cultural icon he is popularly known as "The King of Rock 'n' Roll"
His musical career started in the 1950's with an uptempo fusion of counry and rhythm and blues. During his career in covered many genres including rock and roll, blues, country, pop and gospel.
He also had a successful film career during the 1960's, whilst his movies were not popular with the critics they enjoyed great success at the box office.
Following a comeback in the late 1960's and early 1970's he developed health problems, particularly an addiction to prescribed drugs. This and other factors led to his tragic death at the age of 42.
