Samuel Beckett
Samuel Barclay Beckett (13 April 1906 - 22 December 1989) was an Irish writer, dramatist and poet.
A student and friend of James Joyce, Beckett's work offers a bleak outlook on human culture and as his career developed his style became more and more minimalist.
Probably his most famous work is his play Waiting for Godot. In 1969 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
