The Irish Tenor Banjo is a unique style of playing and is notable for a similar playing style to the Irish Mandolin and the Irish Bouzouki. The tenor banjo is the most common banjo for solo playing

The modern banjo usually comes in four and five string versions. A banjo consists of a wooden or metal rim with a strong calf or goat skin drumhead stretched across. The neck is mounted on the side of the rim with a tailpiece opposite the neck and a bridge.
