Throughout the 1970's, Planxty produced six albums and brought traditional Irish music to new heights never experienced before. Combining hte influences of the 1960's ballad and folk boom with the dance tunes of traditional Irish music - rounded off with a certain rock 'n roll dynamism - they became one of the great symbols of the cultural reawakending of 1970's Ireland.
