Irish Bouzouki
The Greek version of the bouzouki was introduced to Ireland in the late 1960's by Johnny Moynihan. It was popularised by Donal Lunny and particularly Andy Irvine, both of whom played with the legeneary Planxty traditional Irish music group.
Within a few years Irish bouzouki designs emerged built specifically to complement Irish traditional music sounds. Irish bouzouki players tend to use the bouzouki less for solo vituoso work and more for chordial accompaniment for tunes played on other instruments.
