Davy Spillane

Davy Spillane is one of Ireland's leading uilleann pipers, as well as being a master of the low whistle. He started playing the whistles and pipes in school at the age of thirteen and it wasn't long before he was busking around the towns and folk clubs of Ireland and Brittany. Shortly after starting the pipes, he began a long apprenticeship to pipemaking with Johnny Bourke. He was one of the founding members of 'Moving Hearts' which broke up in 1985. Davy resumed pipemaking with his fater Des and Johnny Bourke. Soon after he met up with P.J. Curtis and recorded 'Atlantic Bridge'. Immediately after its release he put together a band and since then, he has bee composing and recording albums, doing media session work for varied artists, and pipemaking.
